Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major is a masterpiece of the Baroque era, composed around 1720. It consists of six movements, each showcasing the cello's versatility and expressive range. The Prelude, perhaps the most famous movement, is a lively and intricate piece with arpeggiated chords and melodic lines that highlight Bach's contrapuntal genius. The suite also includes allemande, courante, sarabande, minuets, and a gigue, each with its own character and technical demands.
